I might be being stupid here, but when they do things like this, do they warn the US in advance? Otherwise how do we know that it's not a real launch?

I believe all missile firings by any country have to declared as they could land on someone who happens to be in the area, same as large wargames are declared so that others don't think troops are massing for naughty reasons.

Our live firings are issued as Notices to Mariners I think.

Or I could be talking bollix.
