Went there loads of times as a skimmer, anchor and boat transfer every time.I've been there twice on SSN's, anchor out and Boat Tx in.
And then fuel at a bigger sh*thole Campeltown - remember that dump - the local yobs wanted a fight one night - they got one..............................Went there loads of times as a skimmer, anchor and boat transfer every time.

How Submarines Regularly 'Fight To The Death' Off The Bahamas
Just like how Navy planes have vast instrumented ranges for aerial wargames, submarines have one too, and it is arguably even more impressive.www.thedrive.com
I did a ten week loan draft there.
Ten weeks! In the Bahamas!
For free!
Yeah I had forgotten that bit.I've been there twice on SSN's, anchor out and Boat Tx in.

I remember a rum and coke, loads of rum splash of coke, coke more expensive than rum. After a few no longer remember? The T. F. C.
Gawd.....I'm having flashbacks.
Also - every Sunday, my job was to ram raid the PX for alcohol/cigs, get my arse to the helo pad and get in a US chopper for a mad suicidal flight to Nassau to deliver said contraband to BritNavAt/RNLO who'd be waiting in his motor on the airfield.
Free day in funky Nassau before thundering back to Andros at hundreds of miles an hour ten feet above the clear blue sea.
'Twas the loan draft from heaven.

I reckon you know more than you're telling us.Was there on Swiftsure in the mid 70's. Some here may recall "let go the anchor" and we did indeed let it go...all the way to the bottom. Turns out it wasn't connected in the chain locker before undocking from the Faslane AFD.
As did the T-boat skipper who took an unrequited fancy to the local lady whose fisherman husband returned early, found the skipper lurking at his front door and decked him, thereby creating a sufficient diversion to allow the leading stoker from the skipper's boat, who had been much luckier than his skipper, to make a swift exit from the back door! And then fuel at a bigger sh*thole Campeltown - remember that dump - the local yobs wanted a fight one night - they got one..............................
Class reading some of these dits! Gives a young lad a real reason to want to join the Navy! The T. F. C.

One had to use happy hours to make the subbies go further, wouldn't want to spend ones own hard earned cash whilst sunbathing at the side of a pool with a crate on ice?I too was unfortunate enough to have been sent to Andros for several weeks carrying out the PARIS Mod trials. Sadly my island idyll was frequently interrupted by flights to Ft Lauderdale, Canaveral and other places. Used to have to use the various hotels' happy hours in order to eat.....
