Just remember to lock up your bicycle

I vaguely remember someone spinning a dit about that.

When they bought the Hermes amd sailed from Guzz, half the bicycles in Devonport went missing (I would have said bikes but that leads on to a different subject!!!)

I remember as a young chap seeing one of these mongrels in Bombay and even then having a grudging admiration for the way the Indians had managed to bastardise a Leander hull with gas turbines (so I was told) and Soviet Union weapon systems.

It reminds me of "Trigger's Broom" (in Only Fools & horses).

"A good broom this is, had it years. Four new heads & two new handles, it's lasted well."

Don't forget that TAURUS task group recently visited the Western and Eastern FLEET HQ of the IN recently (eye opener of a visit for most of us).

The IN is very pro-British and I had great fun chatting to their officers. Some interesting conversations and a Navy we need to work with in the future.

Several messages buried in this obituary:

In my term of 102 bods including Comonwealth cadets, the six Indians all finished up in the top twelve - and the five Pakistanis in the bottom dozen.

As an aside, at Dartmouth I asked one of the Pakistanis, who was plainly struggling, why he had joined and got (in whiny sing-song voice):
"Well, my father had seven sons, and I am the youngest, so here I am."
