Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. i have my joining date for the 4th September, before deciding to join the navy I played football at a professional youth level for a number of clubs. I was always quick but never really took it seriously until very recently when I started training at a local running track(to improve my 2.4km time) while there I was asked if I wanted to join in with some sprint training, turns out my times for the 200m and 400m were at a competitive level and i was told that with some proper training I could compete at a national standard. If all goes well at HMS Raleigh, would I be able to pursue this with the navy?
  2. Speak to the PT staff at Raleigh, the navy has been known to treat good sports men/women well.
    Good luck
  3. Will do! Thanks sumo.
  4. Well, there's three words you seldom see together.....
  5. I was always told to do Sport or Religion and you'll go far in the RN. I didn't do either and left as a PO.
  6. :)
