And the sun like to fabricate more than most. However, the damn degos clearly need a sound thrashing to show them the error of their ways :p

Re: Argentinian warship confronts Falklands trawler

This is a problem that we are likely to encounter increasingly in various parts of the World. CLYDE can only be in one place at a time. The same will hold true for our rapidly (probably) shrinking DD/FF force.

In this particular case, CLYDE and the resident Tanker could waste a lot of time and fuel shadowing the fishermen, even if they formed practically ridiculous convoys.

Theoretically, incidentally, a radio call to the right place could have conjoured up a pair of very fast jets in less than 20 mins. That is theory, though.

Re: Argentinian warship confronts Falklands trawler

ironic but the Navy suffered as a result of a Cruiser shortage at the start of WW2 to combat raiders and thats similar to the job the DD/FF do now. Alas we seem to be destined have similar problems now. The falkands came round because the Argies thought we couldnt and wouldnt take action. Surely reducing our ability to combat these silly barstewards will encurage greater actions

Did the Falklands conflict not kick off at the same time as a previous defence review? Ah, the lessons of history and all that...

Marvellous timing. Well done Argentina.

Let's hope Germany doesn't gather it's military on the borders of Poland to strengthen the Army's case. Check out tomorrows' Daily Sport.

Do you reckon that they miss having us around down there and did this to boost Andrews chances in the review?

Well we ARE the Colonial Imperialist Power :p

Dirty barstewards need to remember that we aint the ones guildty of clandestine deathsquad operations against their own people. Looks like her facelift failed and I wonder if any of her fine (probably germanic immigrant) ancestors had any experience of underhand dirty activities

Pirates........pffft

Re: T'graph: Royal Navy Are Pirates, Says Argentina's Presi

So which of our services (Navy or Air Force) paid them to scupper the Tory's defence review ?

The Argentinians should have kept their mouths shut for another 10 days or so. Their timing and intelligence continually makes oours' look almost intelligent - and that is VERY, VERY hard to do !

Pity that the last time they gave advance notice, if that's what it is that Thatcher's government had not taken notice, Oh I forgot an election was on the horizon.

Hmmmm, Kirchner sounds German to me.
Elaborate Finx... please do.... :?
A German sounding name in South America always stimulates my suspicious nature.
Got a point there Finx.... the remnants of the third reich de camped en bloc in '45. Bound to be some 'Boys from Brazil' kicking around in that part of the world.
