Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hi there, Is there anyone on here who was a Port Diver in the old Seaward Defence branch in the late 80's - early 90's?

I am seeking information on branch diving badges, specifically what the badges looked like (were they the same pattern as the standard CD badge) what designation did they have below and where on the arm were they worn? Very interested in the same information about WRNR port diver badges too. Would also be interested in any photos, images or published articles anyone may have?

Is there anyone on here who may have examples they may wish to part with?

    Regards Jack
  2. Jack - As far as I'm aware, RNR port divers (male and female) were awarded the same badge as ships' divers.

You could obtain confirmation easily enough by contacting Stu McAlear at DDS, as shown on the RN website here: Diver Underwater Force Protection. More about RNR divers on RR here: Re: Diving Volunteers wanted.
