Interesting. Naval Careers Service FTRS personnel must usually retire aged 55...

I'd caution it's the Daily Mail making the claim and so far as I'm aware BR3(2) Chapter 18, article 1815 has yet to be amended that I'm aware of but exemptions can be made: http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/reference-library/br3vol2

Truth is, aged 55 now, I'd consider going back to sea if it took me to age 60 for the big whacks pension increase.

It's not a wind up. The RN is actively trying to attract ex Engineering Senior Rates up to the age of 60 to sign back up under FTRS contracts.

The poster is a wind up, the stories behind it are not!

The RN is actually asking ex-sailors to come back on 5 year contracts, but like the CPO's and PO's they made redundant in 2010 before asking them to come back, they'll be no chance of promotion, you'll get the shit jobs nobody else wants (evident in that people have left in droves) and will be pretty much told to suck it up. The RN is pretty much relying on the older generation having rose tinted glasses and missing messdeck life.
