RN Logistics Officer to the Commando Logistics Regiment?

#1
Hello,

Been looking at specialization's within the Logistics Branch of the Royal Navy, and saw that in this role you have the opportunity to join the Commando Logistics Regiment. How many Royal Navy officers are actually able to do this, and what does the job entail? I am under the impression that RLC Officers do go out on the ground to the FOB's and have been under contact, is this the same for the attached Royal Navy officers? If so, I imagine there must be quite a bit of training prior to this, to teach you how to actually lead Marines, etc etc.

Cheers

Company Commanders are exclusvely Royal Marines Commando Officers. A Logistics Officer may well supervise Royal Marines Commandos who have completed specialist qualifications (SQ) as Clerks, Stores Accountants or Chefs if in the CLR role, but certainly not out on the ground in an offensive close quarter combat role even if AACC qualified, likewise RLC Officers.

Logistics officers at CDO logs would probably be invloved in running the Bastion QMs jobs like that. Or jobs purely at Chiv never deploying outside of the UK.
To say that most of CDO logs dont get involved much beyond CLPs maybe be simplifying it a little bit as well. A good chunk of logs get deployed forward and attached to other units RM and pongo for both short and quite long terms. During both Herrick 9 and 14 a lot of the RM and Army ranks at logs put there trades second and did a lot of graving once R&R kicked in.
Thats before you even start to think of the WRNS in med sqn who do more patrols than most of the blokes, as they go out with different sections/troops.

The lads would be absolutley stoked to have a RN Logs officer leading a patrol, what a wonderful change it would make from the RN schoolie or MO taking them out for a bimble.

Remind me again, do officers have to be a bit clever to join up now or has the bar been lowered quite dramatically?

The criminal offence of getting caught. It's a bugger when that happens.

He should have been an MP, 53k is childs play compaired to what those expert fraudsters get up to.
