Do you all sign a secret pact to ignore them?

:worship: :salute: Nice one Bootie. Like it, like it.

Don't knock Matelots "drill." When I went to the Plod training college they had me on the parade ground for two sessions, I was then removed and placed in charge of the record player (in a nice warm room) that was used to play the marching tunes. They wanted feet stamping and things, I had to explain that I could possibly do that as it would start the deck seams

Generally the Black Rats that I knew were slightly retarded, I think it was caused by the traffic fumes 8)

I agree. The plastic black rats. Tossers to a man.

Me? I'm a Blackrat from the 4th Armoured Brigade (as was), the terror of Saddams Republican Guard who's arses we whooped in 4 days. We're retarded due to:

1. Depleted uranium
2. The oil fires
3. NAPS tablets and various other injections
4. German porn

I was on the Comcen at the bottom of the Mall once for trooping, I was with an Ex marine and we first watched the Royal Navy lot march past, it was not bad I must say, but not the best.
Bit of piss taking from my old mate the ex marine, a few moments later a large column of Royals bimbled past, I have seldom seen such poor marching, I just looked at my mate and nothing was said.
Nothing needed to be said

So Blobbs, you know nothing

On the end of the chain is a whistle. One long blast, and every thing stops. Please remember that "Drill Instuctors" are "Gunnery Instructors". The whistle could be used during a Gunnery practice to stop everything if safety required. Yes, you could argue that it is therefore as obsolete as Blue Collars and Bell Bottom Trousers. But tradition requires that it is still worn. As it is a badge of office, rather like a Flag lieutenants aigulets. It means that the wearer has his CO's and XO's authorty vested in him, over those other wise senior to him, in matters of Drill and Ceremonial. (Of course most GIs believe it gives them authority in all matters, but that is their problem!)
