Apologies in advance for taking the thread slightly off track but I'm a little curious and probably a naive civvie.
Would an outsider to the armed forces like myself be right in thinking that some aspects of Commando training are maybe on a par or possibly even harder than candidates undertaking a Special Forces reserve course?
I ask this because cut off ages for:
RMR is up to 33rd birthday without prior Commando experience
UKSF(R) is 42 & 6 months without prior military service, and for those with experience it is the day prior to turning 44
Although apparently in 2020 the upper age for UKSF(R) was increased to 52 which I find staggering!
If in the case it has nothing to do with whether 'this course has some aspects more difficult than the other' and vice versa, then does anyone know why or have any presumptions as to why there is around a decade (or two now) between the cut off ages for these two?
