Personally I'd love to be 82.5kg currently sitting at 120kg I've been advised to lose around 20kg...that's going to be fun...you should be fine if I'm still going ahead at 120kg/100kg

Talk to a GOOD nutritionist, I worked with a guy 150 kgs, he had all sorts of issues due to his weight and eventually went to a nutritionist, he lost 50 kgs without too much hassle - worth a go..

So why are you posting in the Joining the Royal Navy when you really need the RFA forum?
It's like asking for a leg of lamb in the bakers!!!!!

I'm also going for Apprentice Chef with the RFA as well. During my research for the interview, I didn't come across any weight restrictions, however, I was advised about BMI requirements for the ENG1. The maximum BMI is 35. Its easy enough to look online and find the NHS BMI calculator (others are available too). From what I was advised, they look at your stature/body type as well so if you're body builder/rugby player/etc then they take that into account.

I am NOT an ENG1 expert nor do I know the full medical requirements either. I am merely offering up what I have found so please do NOT quote me.

It might be worth speaking to the recruiting people as they will be in a better position to advise or speak to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency as they are the ones who approve the doctors who do the medicals for ENG1.

Good luck with your application.
