RFA Communications Apprentice

Midshipman
Hi there,

I have looked around on the site a little bit and read some other posts, but can't seem to find a lot of answers.

I have my RT on the 21st January as I have applied for Communications Apprentice in the RFA.

Obviously I need to know a fair bit about the RFA and particularly what the Comms branch actually do, I know a little bit already, about sending and receiving messages, as well as working on DII and flag work.

Any more in depth information into the branch and what you would do on a day-to-day basis would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I've read every post I could find about it. Maybe worth asking elswhere

If you need spoonfed, then probably. I guarantee you though that all the answers you need, and more, are here within this forum.

Put the effort in, get creative with your searches or trawl through each thread and you'll be more than prepared for your interview... not just for Comms stuff but for a thorough appreciation of the RFA.

Keep asking to be spoonfed, and you'll be outshone by the multitude of folk that get the job because they left no stone unturned finding the answers and more on here.

All boils down to effort, keep asking and be hopeful or start digging and get treasure.

Thanks. I've got a few days, I'll look through the forums and try to find some more answers.

Sorry OP. I was being facetious, no need to P.M me. I have not a scooby about CT, let alone RFA.

UN NUCO.

Hope this helps.

Think there's any correlation between your lack of effort searching the forum and the lack of answers you've found?
What's wrong with people like you ? The bloke comes on asking perfectly politely for info having demonstrated he's made the effort to find things out already and all you want to do is sneer at his perceived lack of effort , he's asking for additional info , as for your answer that everything that he needs is available on here already, is it ? Really? I can guarantee that there are things I mentioned in my interview that arent on these pages .

#6 , he has looked through the forums ...... Grenadier was probably hinting at search function where all he needs to know is there.

Nothing, unlike yourself, I'm not a sensitive wee soul.

Yes. Yes it is.

I can guarantee that there are things I mentioned in my interview that arent on these pages .

Cool story bro!

The fact of the matter is that despite your fairly recent arrival to the forum, the rest of us that've been around for some time and have seen plenty of threads raised by prospective Comms Apprentices. We know the info is here as we've seen it written time and time again in those threads. We know active apprentices on the forum and also those that are now successful CR1s, who quite frankly just can't be fucked to type the exact same reply to a question that has been answered thoroughly and repeatedly!...

So yes, I have alluded to the fact he is under prepared in my initial reply. Yes, I have been more blunt and told him the answers are there to be found in my subsequent reply. These should be good enough prompts for anyone of any intelligence level to realise that the answers aren't going to materialise soon and that with just 3 full days left before his RT, he should double down and get reading.

So he can either sit hopeful that someone will reply to him or he can make his own luck and get the answers to his question on here. I've alluded that he should put more effort it, he can either heed it and be one of the better more well informed candidates at the interview or he can throw his toys out of the pram and be a wee soft sensitive soul like you, that probably won't get the job because he was outshone and because somebody on NavyNet "didn't tell him the answers".

Just to clear up, I have been thoroughly looking through the forums also. I just need to look more, and I was simply asking for more information, not trying to upset anyone. I do 100% see your point that people don't want to be writing the same thing over and over again.

Soft sensitive wee soul ? Dont make me laugh , you're a keyboard warrior who is obviously too inadequate to say things in real life so gets his kicks digging people out on forums , your reference to "my recent arrival" speaks volumes as to the sort of bloke you are , its claimed that people dont want to keep typing the same things , well some people never seem to tire of typing the same statement about the search function when it would require a tiny bit more effort to be helpful or no effort at all to ignore .

Far too many come on here wanting to be spoon fed with info , lazy bastards , this is an UNOFFICIAL RN site NOT a help desk.

The likes of potential recruits that open their post with '' I have trawled the search box but have a query......'' are treated with respect , this site can think itself lucky we have a civilian , Sol , who has patience with slackers who put the X-BOX down for 2 minutes to pose a query that has been covered a number of times.
Serving or not Mr Grenadier WTF do you think we did before the internet when applying for the services.

...he can throw his toys out of the pram and be a wee soft sensitive soul like you, that probably won't get the job because...

Two separate points there. I did make the punctuation a little bit more obvious in my quote but please carry on your rant nonetheless.

...I'm already serving mate...

Serving?!... Interesting terminology for a civi job. Also, can you taste my urine in your chips yet?
