RFA Comms Apprentice Interview

Just a post for anyone having a communications apprentice interview, I thought (having had my interview recently), I might be able to share my experience.

They are doing telephone interviews at the moment, so I highly recommend taking a few notes just to look at in case you get stuck at any point.

The obvious question they asked, was "What do you know about the RFA?" It's important that you know how many ships are in the fleet, and what each of the 5 ship classes do (some classes perform the same role as others).

They also asked about myself, and what kind of situations I had been in where I used teamwork, and a situatuon where I had been under pressure. Don't waffle or go on too much, they have done plenty of interviews, so they know when you're going off on one to waste time!

Finally, they might ask about types of communication used on board ships, where ships generally go in the world, and what yoy might do in your spare time on board ship.

Just remember, be yourself, show them that you have done your research, and you'll be fine. Answer the phone promptly so they know you are ready, and be confident. Remember they can't see you, so you can look at your notes, and be more relaxed.

Good luck!

Hi have you heard back yet? I had mine on the 7th and I'm starting to think that this gap can't be a good thing.

Hi mate, letters were sent out last week. Were supposed to hear by today at the latest as of the 7th, but they said if you don't receive it by 7th Mat, then contact them. Hope you get a good result mate!

Young people in the RFA? Joining the wrong company then aha. But I am a young 20 year old and have done 2 and a bit years and I do know some younger people who are currently going through the training.
