Retention of service number

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Having passed my AIB and waiting for the letter from BRNC sometime in the (hopefully near) future, a thought has come to me:

I already possess a service number from my time in the TA at university. I won't give it out for obvious reasons, but will I get to keep the same number, or be given a new one upon starting training?

I do recall a question on initial application forms, and gave the number there, but that was almost a year ago and I foolishly forgot to photocopy them afterwards.

    Any help, much appreciated!

  2. If it's a JPA number then normally you will keep it. I think these start 300*****. If not then normally I believe they now issue you a JPA number for payment purposes.

  3. Doesn't matter whether it's a 3####### or not, the thing that counts is whether or not it has been put on to JPA.
