Even before you pinged, the rotor noise vibrating down to cable forced or sound room guys to turn the headset volume down, and wake up off watch.
We are call the silent service for a reason, no need for you paraffin parrot dwellers to come and make lots of noise.

Apologies for keeping you awake!!! As I said earlier, we did have ways of reducing rotor downwash!!! As for the old 195(M) sonar we operated - it was designed in the 50's!!!!! We were paid to make noise - so - we made noise. Think yourselves luck we only had 260feet of cable, unlike todays modern ASW Helo's), otherwise we would have sought you out below the layers too!!!
