Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. *pedant mode on ('cos it niggles me)* but the word THE does not come before HMS *pedant mode off*

The use of the definite article before HMS grips my shit and boils my piss.
  5. RIP indeed.
  6. The idiots (particularly up 'emselves BBC types) who continue to use the definite article pre HMS, should be made to record the phrase "THE HER MAJESTY'S SHIP" in a loud , clear voice, then have it played back to them in surround sound at full volume 100 times at 0400 every morning just to emphasize how stupid it sounds.

Not that it upsets ME of course.:violent2:

  7. You can always rely on Navy News to be correct though..... .....
  8. Did something similar in 2005 where we embarked survivors from Repulse and PoW for the ceremony. Very poignant moment was the flight deck service.

Had the pleasure of giving a large rum from the POs' Mess to one of the Stokers to take down his mess for an ex-stoker who had struggled down 3 decks to be back in the messdeck for a tot only to find nothing but tinnies. Imagine his surprise when he discovered some Stokers now have lumps under their overalls!
