Recruitment Test?

Is the practice test booklet similar to the real thing? I'm super nervous about taking the RT as I am not feeling confident and really don't want to have to wait 12 months before I can retake it.

I have been down to the AFCO and they have given me a RN practice test booklet, and I did it as it advised, 4 minutes for each section, I ran out of time on the maths section but managed to answer most of them. I marked it and got 50% or over on the maths and reasoning sections, but didn't do so well on the English and mechanical comprehension, I think because I rushed them too much.

i was just wondering if this practice booklet is a good representation of what the real thing will be like, as i have heard that it is harder which worries me considering i didn't do that well on this practice one :/

The questions aren't too dissimilar to the test booklet. Just keep practicing and you will be just fine

Also, a book called psychometric testing for dummies helped me practice. There were hundreds of practice questions I did.

The questions in the practice test booklet are extracted from all three versions of the actual test, with changed values where necessary.

Many claim the real test is harder but that's probably because they're not watching Eastenders & drinking a can of Tennents Super in the real test. Well, not the applicants, anyway.

There are oodles of free online tests kicking around too, but the tip is work fast. Very fast. Don't prevaricate, go with your guts.

Some tips & pointers here, it's the same test: http://www.royalmarines.uk/threads/royal-navy-recruiting-test-example-psychometric-tests.3149/

Good luck.

Hey,
I did mine a good few weeks ago. I wouldn't worry yourself too much. Just pay attention to what you find most difficult and practice that area. I'm particularly rubbish at maths, so every morning before work and in the evenings I sat down and did some long division and multiplication. Not because these questions would be asked particularly, but because the brain is a muscle that needs exercising and since school I have avoided maths at any cost! I didn't spend any money on books or online courses - just read the kind advice of people on here and used the booklet.

Sure enough, I found the maths most challenging. In the test I just tried to focus on answering the questions I was able to accurately and took a guess at the remainders. The test isn't negatively marked so there's a chance your guesses could work in your favour. :) Best of luck.

Reminds me of the times I used to invigilate the entrance exam for my son's grammar school.

There were 120 places & about 1000 applicants sitting the exam. Me and my oppo used to walk up and down the aisles in this mahoosive examination hall, scoring each other points for which one of us could pull off the most outrageously camp mince. The rules stated you had to do it without being sussed by the eagle-eyed head teacher - who had no sense of humour.

Sussed, you work in the RAF AFCO and I claim my £5.
