Recovery of Poll Tax Rebate

I overpaid Community Charge, in 1989 to 1993 (Scotland) as I was working as an HVAC Engineer in Ras Tanura, in Saudi Arabia. I worked there from 1987 to 1999 and I have already applied for Council Tax 2nd adult rebate, which I expect to receive soon. However the dreaded POLL TAX, seems more elusive as the Council deny liability, stating the do not have the records of Community Tax payments. I am aware the Council operate a highly efficient Records Management System and intend to take the matter to the Information Commissioners Office. Has anyone out there, had problems associated with recovery of Poll Tax.

This is ****ing hilarious. And I'm not known for ****ing profanities...usually. Or maybe I just time warped into another parallel t'internet forum...

...........I owe Dumbarton District Council about £100 in Community Charge (or whatever it was called), going back to about 1990 - is that any help?

No, I thought not!

Actually what youv'e said is helpful. If you paid, would it be to the district council ? The revenue manager for West Lothian Council said that Poll Tax was the responsibility of Lothian Region Council and he couldn't help. My neice applied for a Council Tax rebate, two years ago, and was told she would be paid £50.00 but only received £20.00. When she made enquiries about the missing £30.00 she was told she owed £30.00 for Community Tax. The natural assumption is this guy is telling porkies. This will be the second time they have lied to me. I will follow this as far as I can? By the way, I am an ex-RN Mechanician, who served on Wizard, Brighton, Bulwark, Nubian and Lowestoft.

Polto, I and probably many others, do not understand a word of what your gibbering about. I'm trying to exchange advice to and from ex naval colleagues or ex armed forces personnel. I can not cater for half witted plonkers like yourself, who have difficulty communicating with humans.

I think that Holbein's portrayal of Henry VIII was almost certainly influenced by a desire, indeed a necessity, to portray the King in a way that he, the King, saw fit. Otherwise it'd be 'off with your head Mr Holbein' eh!

Well in that case you've come to the right place!

My name are Dr Mohamed Lucien, a medical Doctor. and the sole proprietor of a specialist Hospital.(SAHARA CLINIC & MATTERNITY) I understand that through Internet is not the best way to link up with you because of the confidentiality which the transaction demands.

However, I have already sent you this same advise by PM one month ago, but I am not sure if it did get to you since I have not heard from you, hence my resending it again.I have a widow here in my Clinic who is on a political Asylum in ACCRA GHANA WEST AFRICAN Refugee Camp, she has been so ill for somecouple of months now.

This woman confided in me based on the free medical attention I have been giving to her and her children. She had revealed to me of her lifehistory and about her late husband who was a top military officer in one of the west African country(liberia) before his death during the civil war and the fortune she inherited from her latehusband. She has asked me to source a credible and trustworthy partner abroad who will manage her funds for investment, the sum of $40 Million us dollers which is all ready in Texas in USA with a deplomat . It was to be deliver to mr. Wood klark in califonia in USA , but due to the Earth weak that incue in Indonesia ,unfortunately ,mr Wood Klark travelled there for a business era, and he was dealthby the accedent of the Earth weak.

So Mr. Sandyspud,I please you in the Name of ALLAH ,for you to represnt the post of MR WOOD KLARK TO ME WITHthe deplomat in Texas to Clear the consignments from the deplomat ,and you must not allow him to know that the consignment content ok, for him not to raise his eye brown on you and your family untill the Widow and her daughter come over to me you and your family.

you for ths venture and I believe you will be in the position to assist in managing this large sum in a profitable venture and also to help create a safe heaven for her and her children by making a residence arrangement for them in your country. After she had disclosed this information to me, I saw the reason to request from her to all the documents relating to this deposit of which she did, now I have the documents covering the deposited in a package consignment which I will not hesitate to fax to you the copies as a prove for your confirmation as soon as i receive your response via email. I am obliged to assist this lady knowing too well that she has a limited knowledge in the business world and as such she can not manage this funds herself in Africa inorder to avoid any trace of her by the government, I will need from you a mutural understanding and then we shall make plans on how the funds would be secured into an account in your name, after which you will arrange and travel immediately to meet with the deplomat for clearing. This amount is contained in a sealed trunk box and it is registered and declared as containing family treasures and preciouse items, so even as I am writing you now the security company and it's Agent is not aware that there is cash money in the trunk box, let me assure you that this transaction is 100% hitch and risk free, from my discussion with her, she has agreed to give you a reasonable amount of percentage for your involvement in this and this has to be discussed upon the receipt of your quick response.

Thanks and God bless for your understanding,

Best regards,
Dr.Mohamed Lucien.

No, have you tried speaking to the citizens advice bureau? I have worked for 2 councils and with all of the cut backs chances are if the computer has said nein then your chances are slim. Need advice from people who know or who have contacts and can perhaps sneak your case through to the appropriate people.

The council would probably have the records somewhere, but with data protection and such doesn't mean they can be accessed and information shared readily necessarily.

I bet records would be kept if you owed them money! :)

Haha they are kept i expect but depends on who can access them and assist. Data protection and all that, if someone forgets their card we cannot look them up on the system even with photo ID with a current address and an accompanying utility bill- not even involving money changing hands. I dread to think how many chains are around other info, especially if how long it takes to contact someone in higher management is representative of how overworked they are :D
