Of course because the WO&CPOs are the antithesis of all that is good and healthy. I am sure as a senior officer you’d be less than happy to see someone other than a chef cooking in the galley, if not then you need a few lessons in HSE and hygiene. You can tell those who've been at sea recently and those who haven't.
whilst you're going to have to compromise some on your ideal diet, you can follow your general tenets. Of course there will be times when food becomes a bit "stodge and processed meat", but we try to have a healthy and balanced diet.
Oh, and the biggest nay-sayers are consistently the WO&CPOs mess, who can't conceive of a life without a Daily full fry-up and chips with every meal...

Then may I remind you that crown immunity in relation to HSE legislation is a very dodgy area. What’s nice to do and what’s actually permissible under law aren’t the same thing.Given that I used to help out in the galley on a semi-regular basis, as did other members of the ships company, I'm afraid I'm all for random people in the galley.
WHAT??......... there’s no daily fry up for breakfast anymore, it’s all continental breakfasts.
Start with this lot before we get on to the safety involved with operation of galley equipment by untrained personnel.Which part of HSE - inquiring minds would like to know...

A propos of your potential application, what are you hoping to join as and when do you leave college?
If you indeed join the 'engineering' branch. You will no doubt get involved in the ritual boiler room 'pot mess', a delicious meal hardly ever seen by us upper deck workers!!!!I'd be applying after college either around September or Spring next year. I intend to speak to someone about my potential joining options, but I'd like to join in either Engineering branch (surface fleet), as an officer or on the accelerated apprenticeship scheme if possible.
!
Ahhh, just read the officer bit. You'll be able to get a pillow fluffer to sort your scran out!!!! (That will be steward in polite parlance).
