Raleigh Basic Training Dates

Hi everyone,

This is going to sound so stupid but I’ll go ahead with it anyway. I’ve been given my basic training date which is pretty soon but I was scrolling the website and seen another trade that I’m interested in (Dental nurse) I’m going to phone my AFCO on Monday I’m happy with logistics and going as a writer but is it ok if I ask for more information on dental nursing in case I have the RT score for it and there’s scope? I know I’m causing hassle and I’m such a nuisance but I was just curious if anyone has been in this same position (probably not)

Sorry for being a massive pain. Just a lot going on right now and stuff is circling my head at the moment. Regardless I want to go to Raleigh albeit as a writer or a dental nurse it’s what I want to do but I guess with Christmas etc I haven’t been able to speak to my AFCO about it. I applied 2 years ago and writer was my chosen trade hence why the application was processed as it’s priority at the moment also.

It would be a student dental nurse as I don’t have the qualifications for it. But I’m presuming the RT score is much higher for Dental Nurse also.

Sorry and thank you!

It's up to you what job you do and far rather you join in the right job than join then try to change branch.

Just talk to your AFCO.

Bear in mind Dental Nurse is a small branch, there maybe a significantly longer wait to join and there are very few seagoing billets, so most of your career will be in a UK baseport billet.

Best of luck.

Thank you so much! That reallyput a positive spin on things because I know my AFCO are most likely getting sick of me now  So I appreciate your response!
