Questions on Intelligence Officer - Warfare

Hi guys,

I have some questions about this specialisation of Warfare.

1. What helps steer me to this specialisation? I.E: skills, qualifications, character.
2. Any insights into the responsibilities and duties it entails?
3. What are the potential pros and cons?
4. General advice is also appreciated. ☺

Any information or forums you can throw at me I am thankful for.

It's in the title, use some and search the forums for your self?

You can't (at the moment) become an intelligence officer until the end of your first tour as an officer of the watch.

Whilst dull, I'd suggest that you place this aspiration on the back burner and concentrate on getting to a more generic Warfare officer.

He doesn't seem to have the makings of a Naval Intelligence Officer unfortunately. I'm not sure if he understands that gathering information is actually quite a big part of the job.........
No problem, he can ask google, other media devices are available.

then good luck to them being promoted past Lt.

What's the MAuN going to be for X(Int) to Lt Cdr and Cdr?
There are at least 4 liability driving positions for OF4 X(INT). I’d imagine they’ll model the rest of the spec to support this. Beyond OF4 I’d imagine they’ll be promoted based on relevant experience in the new career fields. Can’t deny that they’re in demand across the officer cadre, particularly for augmentation positions.

I've no problem with it, indeed, I welcome it. But having seen too many good officers have their careers capped or simply stopped because the believed the propaganda, I am wary!

Well, round our way it's "if you're a Lt and want to promote, perhaps you should try a different unit?" (Straight from the CO to his OF2s)

Which would be a disappointment if I wanted promotion...

Wary, and out of the loop on this. A new INT 1*, two OF5 positions and a rising MAUN. The last few years have seen a lot of change for INT generally and the focus on Officer and SR/JR positions has made a lot of differences. Changing how INT is handled with a second PO on some T23 to act specifically as an INT focus and let the PO(EW) focus on EW has been useful and ramping up MIXG has started to have an impact. A huge amount more to do but all headed in the right direction. I suspect the OF4 signal in May will testify to that.

Maximum authorised numbers - the numbers allowed to be promoted from each trade or sub-group every year.

Maritime Information Exploitation Group - a group of various different Int trades doing good things.

OF4 - Cdr RN
OF5 - Capt RN

Well, in that case I presume my N2 support will be top notch and all the good blokes/girls will be promoted.
