Hello!

I've just started my Royal Navy adventure, and this is my first question
I appreciate it's a bit of a silly thing to ask, but I like to be as prepared as I can.
I have completed my online application today, and hopefully my next step will to be invited to do a NSRT. However, with the current corona virus situation nobody is being invited to physically sit the test in a local AFCO, as far as I know. (it could change in the next few weeks but who knows)

Has anyone had any experience in the last few months of completing a NSRT during the corona virus, and how it's conducted?

The previous process was to use your academic qualifications to map across to the equivalent RT score for branches. Another member on here has posted the matrix, if you use the search back in the top right hand corner - you will find it.

The AFCO’s have just been given permission to sit in person RT and this will be rolled out by each AFCO. This will only be for those that haven’t got any academic qualifications or those whose current quals don’t match the score for their branch of preference.

Hope this helps.

Thankyou, really helpful answer

The role I'm currently applying for (seaman specialist) doesn't require any qualification (referring to the online role finder on the RN website)

I have GCSE qualifications, but I don't have any certificates to present to my AFCO (I left school 11 years ago) and the current service for retrieving them is not in service due to covid-19...pain in the ass

would I be able to request to sit the RT anyway at my local AFCO (Bristol) I feel it would be a lot easier for everyone and I can show my more current 'skills' a bit more accurately
