Press ups

  1. Do you have to do press ups flat palmed or can you do them on your knuckles when you are on the PRNC and at HMS Raleigh?

    Im only asking as i modify the pushup by doing them on my knuckles and keeping my wrists straigt and firmly fixed in place.

    This alleviates the pain i get in my right wrist from time to time when im doing press ups.

    Wimps, in my day we did them on broken glass.

    You'll soon get use to the pain that accompanies the shout of "down for 10" followed by "wtf do you call them? Do them again/properly!"

    Maybe you should get your wrists looked at.
  13. The booklet shows a diagram of a female doing halfs.

    Anyone who has recently been to basic or PRNC shed some light??

    I too also prefer a full female ;)

    At PRNC (South) the girls were allowed to do push-ups whilst on their knees but were told they would prefer proper push-ups as that's what they will be expected to do at basic.

    Correct push-up form is shown in the below video:
  15. Basic training the girls are told to do press ups with their knees off the floor, if your knees go on the floor expect to be shouted at, ( unless you are genuinely exhausted). Elbows come down and in-wards past your ribs at shoulder width, no wide armed press ups, hands need to be flat on the floor, fingers together. Start practicing the technique so you struggle less when you're there.

    Are the push-ups to a beep or in a set time limit?

  17. Haven't done it to the beep, it's just a set exercise, he'll shout "bend" "stretch" and you do it to the PTI's timing.

    I think you'll find it's "Bend...Ah... and Stretch".

    Yep, I ain't got a clue why either.
