  1. Hi Guys and Gals,

    Just a quickie

I'm continuing my RN FAA application that I started before going to Uni 3 years ago (basically its a new App), but I'm booked on a civvy medical before I get a FATS or AIB date, I’ve sent off all forms.

Is this standard? I'm a fit and healthy guy with no medical history but it has me worried...

Secondly, if it is standard procedure, what can I expect when I get there?

    Thanks

  2. It's a medical. You will be asked questions, and examined.

The routine for Officers has changed & candidates, rather than simply fill out a questionnaire pre FATs, now undergo a medical examination at either their AFCO or at a local contracted (civilian) Medical Examiner/GP surgery.

This routine has been introduced to realistically manage career expectations because previously we had people fail medicals post FATs, only to argue: "But I passed Flying Aptitude...". It also streamlines the commonality areas of Officer/Rating selection.
