Potential medical discharge

Potential medical discharge due to torn acl and meniscus ligaments will need surgery. Has anyone gone through this and be willing to give advice on weather if I put a claim in will it effect potential medical discharge payout. Also what would be the best way to approach or gather information concerning the above. Thankyou

I’m at home downgraded for the foreseeable and don’t think they have gone through this type of thing themselves but have read a few posts here with individuals that have gone through similar things so would have a better idea.

Speak with your DO and if you have one, your rehab centre or sickbay. They should be able to give you some information about this.
I know of those who have had to have surgery due to snapped ligaments etc and broken hips requiring plates and they are still serving.
I cannot comment on the compensation side of things.

What do you want to do, stay in or go?

Try and keep it civil folks. Reasonable question asked, deserves reasonable replies. While it is best to get the real answer from the COC this forum exists to allow people to discuss things informally. Let's not discourage it.

No discouragement was given from myself.
Personally, I would think for a rating passed for killick of six years or so, I would think he/she would have a slight inkling to which way forward to find the relevant answers, (especially, if it involved MBOS/war pension/his or hers future etc). Also, I would be on it like a ‘tramp on chips’ too.

ETA: Why is the COC such a difficult concept today??

Found out today about surgery unable to go see them as at home 400 miles from base. I am on it hence why I’m asking the question on here. There is a reason why I’m asking relevant questions. Because I am on it trying to find out as much info as I can from people who have gone through this type of thing. Being judged by someone is most certainly not what this forum is meant to be about. If I could ask my COC I would but unfortunately I’m not there so am trying to get info from any means necessary. Also for someone who presumably serves should know better as to sink as low as assume and judge.

Don’t you have a phone number to call? Also, I’m not ‘judging’. I was just wondering why someone of your experience hadn’t asked the question through your COC?? Nothing more, nothing less.

Which is exactly what you are doing!!!

Some may have had the experience you are looking for but in the whole, this site is a refuge for potential recruits and some of us old crusties who in our own unique sarcastic fashion do try to advise in the way we are accustomed too!

I was looking for advice if this is an inappropriate platform for that then that’s my mistake. Being pointed in the right direction or even being told it’s not the right place would have been more appropriate. I have left a message asking my DO to get hold of me and also an email but was not available. That’s why I was trying to ask folk on their experience as I have no clue.
