What's the best place you've visited courtesy of the RN? What did you do there & why was it the best? I've always wanted to go to the Caribbean! 8) I've heard that Jamaican Rum kicks quite a punch.

Singers in the sixties,a great run ashore from the dockyard canteen on a sunday, sembawang village and bugis street.Full of life and and unrestricted, the place had a real buzz.Pints of tiger for 50c,then it was 2/4d to to dollar, the days when LSD was money and not a mind trip, and a very hot curry at the stalls in the village for a dollar.Apart from booze and food tiger balm gardens was a site to behold, and shopping for 'rabbits' in change alley, downtown singapore, was cheap and good fun :D
I visited the virgin islands on the Ark in the early 70's,a good run ashore.Ended up as a ships cop for cunard in 77 sailing out of puerto rico every week to la guaria(venezuela) on a monday, grenada on tuesday barbados on weds,St lucia on thurs, and st thomas on friday and then back to puerto rico for saturday,a weekly bus run. :) I would recommend st lucia or grenada as place to visit

Without doubt, Newcastle, the Geordie Land one closely followed by Dundee, Scotland in the late 60's All runs ashore then were in the rig. Could not go wrong. Invite local Plod onboard as soon as you dock a few cans and challange to football, friends for life.

Overseas, toss up between, Detroit, Toronto, Kingston Ont. Hong Kong and Kuching.
