Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

  1. Today's Pompey News contains this article describing next weekend's Lake Windermere swim by RN clearance divers to raise funds for Help for Heroes and Project Vernon, the campaign to erect a monument at Gunwharf Quays commemorating the minewarfare and diving heritage of HMS Vernon which previously stood on the site. This statue is intended as a tribute to all those involved in mine design, minelaying, minesweeping, bomb & mine disposal (all over the country during the Blitz and even now in Afghanistan) and diving of all types as well as those who served in MCMVs and other ships at Vernon over the years.
