"Manhattan is to be visited by the Royal Navy’s new flagship, HMS Queen Elizabeth, The News can reveal.

Britain’s defence secretary Gavin Williamson, pictured below, mentioned the planned stop-over while visiting Portsmouth yesterday.

It will be one of the first major overseas trips by the crowning jewel of the Royal Navy ahead of flight trials of the new F-35b stealth jets.

Mr Williamson said the trip could take place as early as September and would be a demonstration of the UK’s new war machine’s ability to ‘project power’ globally."

A visit to New York and the US East Coast is a Jolly / trials trip to a very friendly ally across the uncontested Atlantic, not a demonstration of global power projection.

Secretary of State, put your cock away there’s a good chap.

Doesn’t he mean that the rest of the world will see it?! #justsayin’

*******! Nough said!!!...ok, not acceptable? How about 'jerk offs'
Terminology borrowed from our American cousins.....

Not guilty, it’s the strokers that have been playing up- we piggies know how to handle our drink!

Plus the British rags have made it sound bad, but 6 in 1,200 isn’t that bad!

Can’t believe the locals didn’t know we were coming mind!

Very disappointing, I've seen more chaos caused by a Diesel Boat crew, usually without them being arrested.

Must be really upsetting for the youngsters on their first draft to discover that, having crossed the Atlantic, they are suddenly too young to drink again!

On the other hand...

SELFLESS sailors from Portsmouth have been praised by a taxi driver in Florida for fixing her car - while on a trip back to their ship. The trio from HMS Queen Elizabeth gave up their time and expertise to fix the headlight of Bonnie Ginter’s 2007 Honda Fit after she realised the car’s bulb had blown...
Describing them as ‘exceptionally kind and very respectful’, she said: ‘I was amazed that they would consider taking the time to fix something for someone they didn’t know at all...
I wonder whether our national dailies and the Beeb, who were so eager to put the boot in, will report this.

If you can fix a bike, you can fix a car, if you can fix a car, you can fix a Type 45 Destroyer - oh, maybe not...
