  2. Strange that its been left to degrade so much. They have a problem up at the memorial here on the seafront for the local sailors lost in the war. The salt air damages the plaques. Council does great work keeping it all in good condition though

  3. If any of you get the chance there is war memorial at the bottom of Plymouth Hoe just off the road, dedicated to the men of the Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxillary killed in action during the Falklands conflict and other smaller conflicts since WW11. Beautifuly preserved and a moving tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

  4. Down in Plymouth just after the new year visiting friends. Might pop down and have a look at that one Stan. Never seen it before

  5. Which end? The Barbican end or West Hoe end?

It is a shame that it has been allowed to deteriorate to its present condition, especially when you see the pristine condition of British and Commonwealth war graves and memorials in other countries.

It's over 60 years old, it's next to the sea.... erosion happens. Covering the names with perspex or the like wouldn't have been an option back then. The only alternative IMHO is to completely replace the name plates with something more up to date and more durable.
