    I have fired that gun,early 90s,I think it was for the queens birthday 7.62 blank in a bigger shell case IIRC,number twos and anti flash,strange rig for a killick greenie!

    Canada reduced the charge on our field guns from a 4 oz. black-powder load (not ever, no never, supplemented with steel wool!) to a .50 insert, and that's rather quiet.

    Is the saluting piece in question fitted with that no-cocking-required breach I've seen on a few of your field guns?

    The guns always used to be old Hotchkiss QFs with a date of 1890 ish stamped on them.
