Political humour, satire, memes etc. Not serious stuff

The outlook is pretty grim whichever way the pendulum swings. Years of Yah Boo politics coming home to roost with little tangible benefit to be seen for the man on the street. Looking at some measures we may even be going backwards. Health, education, environment, energy, an altogether depressing prospect.
I had hoped that Sunak might bring some stability but his own party members are obviously intent on pursuing their own factional agendas, more than happy to let the house burn down just so long as their own faction comes out on top.
As for Labour they seem to be aping Blair, abandoning socialist ideals and attempting to steal the centre ground by nicking the centrist Tories clothes and expelling any one who objects.

That's what Blair worked out, Far left or far right scares the voter, being slightly left of centre is what got him voted in.
Agree Cons are committing party suicide to get what they want out of politics, even at the expense of becoming the opposition, even though to lose the majority will see lots of the self servers twats loosing their seats.

I've never had any time for Cameron since he said that whatever the outcome of the referendum he'd stay as PM, then as soon as he lost it did a runner. He is directly responsible for the world of shit we're in now.

I also read the Israelis want Bliar to be a mediator in the present problems in Gaza. That worked well last time he was Middle East envoy...Arab spring anyone

Looks like BAE are raking it in due to the worlds unrest

My company have just moved our pension scheme to another provider
The company involved gave us a welcome presentation and part of their brief was they don't invest in Defence companies- all my office's reaction was why not considering current events !!

I think the general perception is defence makes huge profits by selling arms to some pretty unsavoury regimes.
In my day that would’ve included Type 42’s to Argentina, all sorts of ex RN kit to Pinochet’s Chile, Hawks to Indonesia, Lightnings to Saudi. Not forgetting the NBCD gear we flogged to Saddams regime.
Times change and they the defence industries that is, may be able to turn that perceived image around to something more palatable for your average Joe.

When we were taken over by UTC, they were on the USA special watch/monitoring for selling stuff to the unsavoury types. We get annual training on contracting and who we can cannot sell too, this is just company protection, so if court doing anything dodgy they can blame you, as you have been trained?

I recently read an article in the New York Times about a US state owned company that was producing ammunition for the AR15/M16. To facilitate rapid expansion of production in times of need they have way more capacity than they normally need. The Lake City Ammunition plant is out sourced to a private company and part of the agreement is allowing sales of military grade ammunition on the open market. Reputedly this includes so called green tip rounds that are able to penetrate some body armour and helmets. To their credit some of the larger retail outlets such as Walmart will no longer sell ammunition for military grade weapons. But they are still readily available at your local gun nuts store.
Now if you have a share portfolio and you have chosen to let them invest in the US market (strong growth) can you be sure that your money isn’t being invested in such enterprises.
Several US law enforcement officers have already been killed with these rounds and they are apparently the ammunition of choice of your AR15 fitted with bump stop and large capacity magazine wielding nut job.
Having read about Sandy Hook and other massacres of innocents perpetrated by these freaks I would happily take the lower returns.
