Hardly. Go in to any French Graveyard and see the number of French dead from WW1. Almost a third of their young men were lost.
And world war 2 how many?
Their fkn general ran away to the UK and did not return until the Allies were victorious and then insisted on being at the head of the parade.
The man was a crunt!

We could debate this all day. We left large numbers of their soldiers behind at Dunkirk. Along with most of the Highland Division. By that stage their country was overrun by panzer troops and the Wafffen SS.
Certainly the Vichy government and their milice didn’t exactly cover themselves in glory. They were also complicit in some areas in shipping their Jews out to concentration camps. We also sank and killed quite a few of their sailors at Oran. To prevent the pride of their Navy falling in to Nazi hands. Again, pragmatism took the lead, however it’s not one of our finer moments.
And then de Gaulle [email protected] all over us in the post war years, and accession to the EEC. He was an arrogant, chauvinistic ungrateful prat. However we’ve no idea how this country would have conducted itself if Sealion had worked. So I think it’s a fallacy ( and forgive me an easy argument ) to say that they didn’t fight. They did.

Well, I'm going to have to like at least one Frenchman (spit!). I'm just back from my back specialist in Granada (35 to 37 degrees today!) and he is both brilliant and French and speaks English perfectly!

So, I'm still prepared to dislike the other 65,408,714

The current population of France is 65,408,715 as of Wednesday, June 9, 2021, based on Worldometer elaboration of the latest United Nations data.

I'm hoping slapping a politician becomes legal. Nothing at the level that would cause permanent injury but just a gentle reminder to get their brain in gear before they start spouting bullshit and try telling the rest of us how we should be living our lives.

Acting unlawfully is a bad thing to do, unless it enriches your friends, confirm Tories

Michael-Gove-small.jpg

After the High Court decided that Michael Gove ‘acted unlawfully’ by awarding a £560,000 contract to a firm run by ex-colleagues of himself and the PM’s adviser Dominic Cummings, Gove himself was quick to clarify the government’s official position.

He told reporters, “Breaking the law is bad, under any circumstances. Well, except one. Which is to say acting unlawfully can be seen as perfectly acceptable if the people benefitting from you doing so are friends or acquaintances.

“If there is one thing we expect people associate with the Tories, it’s that we are the part of law and order – except when there is a few quid to be made.”
