I think the guy resigned for political reasons - he went straight to Westminster Green and had a massive whinge in front of the cameras in order to throw shit at PP. He’s gone on his merry way and is none the worse for it - got all his pension, lump sum etc and most people can’t even remember his name. i’m not convinced handing out a bollocking for not doing the job you were asked to do is necessarily found wanting - speaking as someone who’s had a bollocking or two along the way

Yeah, me too, but the "last time she was found wanting" I was referring to was when she lied about her unsanctioned contact with Israeli officials during her tenure as Sec. of State for International Development under Theresa May's Premiership.

Too bloody right, it's about time the permanent secretaries etc were made more responsible for the performance of their departments. The old comedy show 'Yes Minister' comes to mind, Comments were made at the time that it was painfully accurate so it looks like there's been no change in 30 odd years. Good on yer Ms Patel kick some more ass whenever it's needed.

Not just 'Yes minister'. The recent BBC political drama 'Roadkill' also had a senior female CS 'working' for the Justice Minister who was obstructive.

..and not only Labour. The BBC like to be seen as feminist and pro BAME . Pritti ticks both boxes but strangely the Beeb could find no grounds to support her. Whatever could be the problem? But the fact Boris has said he's against it means kudos for him whichever way Parliament vote. If Parliament vote against the pay rise Boris gets the credit for stopping it, if Parliament votes for the rise then Boris comes out on top as trying to stop it but the evil MP's went against him.
