Pilot Medical Fail

Hello!

I had my medical on Friday, and i passed on all points but weight. I was 1.5kg too light! I am still only 16 and they said that I will need to redo the medical before I join as it only lasts a year. Will my application be put on hold until I am heavy enough to pass or can I continue the application and hope to be heavy enough next year???

Did you speak to your local Royal Navy Careers Advisors in the AFCO? I'm sure they will be able to help.

It may well be, if you have, that they are seeking advice. You are only 16 and it may well be that you will be able to pass the weight requirement in the next couple of months. It could well be that you will be asked to give them a call when you have reached the right weight and that the process will then continue.

Have you been able to speak to your family about this? It might be that taking something like a cheese sandwich in your school bag for your morning break will help, or baked potatoes with cheese and butter at the weekend.

You could also talk to your PT teacher at school, they may have some ideas.

Speak to the CA again this afternoon, to clarify what the situation is.

I was made TMU for the same reason. Speak to your AFCO, but this is what happened with me:

Once I had put on weight and was heavy enough to meet the minimum BMI, I had to get my GP to write a letter stating my weight, height, and BMI. I submitted this as a normal medical appeal and was then deemed fit to progress with my application.

In the time it took me to meet the BMI requirements, I was unable to progress with my application.

Thanks for letting me know. My BMI is not a problem but I am just slightly too light currently

Maybe if I just have a load of food and water before I go and get weighed???

hi there. The Navy recruitment have basically imploded if I’m honest.i did my PJFT in feb and they said they would contact me within a week of doing it but after a month I had got nothing. I phoned them. They had no record of me doing it. That’s the last I heard as coronavirus started soon after. kind of annoying because I was signed up for the 6th form bursary scholarship which I will be unable to do now but hey ho i guess!
