Physically Demanding?

How Physically demanding is Raleigh? what are the Hardest things you have to do?. I understand different people have different levels of fitness and different strong points, However i can already do the mile and a half in under 10Mins 30 Secs and the push ups and sit ups and the swimming because i had to do these at college, But I'm curious to what other things i should expect so i can also train towards them.

Probably the assault and obsticle course as well as all your running that you have to do on a regular basis.

OK is it so many miles you have to do then or is it a case of building it up?

Depends really, as you do your mile and a half either every day or every other day (cant remember now)
You also do lots of squad runs starting in about week 3 or 4 and you also have to do cross country too which is right round the perimiter of Raleigh. Just make sure that you are fully prepared in running before you get there, as you will be doing LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of it!

Nah it can't be a mile and half every day as in Army Basic we did a mile and half about 3 times a week!

And that was for Army basic!

Ok Cheers, So all i need to do is keep working on all round fitness but mainly running, Think I'll invest in some new running shoes then. :LOL:

By the way mate you'll be issued with trainers to run in when you get there.

The assault course is great fun, seriously!, and not physically demanding to be quite honest. Not entirely sure what the point of having it is, but it's great fun.

Got a Few months Or So before i go, so will buy some anyway for training now, as my last ones kind of got ruined using them for the wrong things :s.

Maybe for a bit of fun and something people enjoy? Done a few Assault courses at different bases, there all good fun, everyone seems to enjoy them as long as you put in 100%. :D

I would also like to know how much time I probably have to train until Raleigh!

My fitness test is on the 11th June and the CPO at AFCO said it'll take extra time for the security clearance because my step-mother is Ukrainian - minus some points because it's for a Submariner which they are short of;

How long have I got until Raliegh as an estimate?

I'm not asking for exact dates - just roughly how many months/weeks?

What you going for? I would imagine if its Warfare Specialist which is one of my option then as soon as all is clear less than 5month as that's the waiting time for me, best asking at the AFCO though.

I must be missing something here, I thought you could walk a mile in 10 minutes?
Take it easy lofty, it's a piece of piss at Raleigh. And they are desperate, they take people with retarded Lantern scores, fitness is the last thing on their mind, they have to teach you to tell the time and tie your shoe laces first.
