phase two trainee or phase three

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Not sure if this is the right forum but I am trying to find out if it is laid down anywhere what stipulates being a phase 2 or phase 3 trainee on a course. I was under the impression that phase 2 training is Standard Initial Training Period and Phase 3 trainees are what you would be categorised as if you branch transfer, or is it the COs call at the training establishment?

    Many thanks for any pointers
  2. Phase 1 - Initial Training (eg Initial Training at Raleigh, BRNC, CTCRM etc)

Phase 2 - Specialist Training to get you up to TPS for your specialisation (eg ET course at Sultan/Collingwood, Logs training at Raleigh, Warfare Officer training etc) plus any on job training. Once this is complete then you are considered to be on the Trained Strength

Phase 3 - Further Training for specific roles (eg equipment specific training, PJTs etc)

It's laid out in JSP822 (If I recall, but am happy to be corrected) and the Defence Training Support Manuals.

    Hope this helps.
  3. Hello 'Dial a Jenny',

Elsewhere ( ) you stated that you were in the Navy already.

You are now asking about Parts.........

WRT freedom of information might one ask your interest in such searching questions??

    Or is it a WAH--??

@Breathe - have been in PM conversation wrt this question. Seems genuine and is a common problem. People are confusing FoI and Subject Access Requests under the DPA. Personal data about you is not subject to the FoI, well it is but your right to obtain that data is via a SAR under DPA.

Reports on course are often seen as not the same as SJAR but people need to remember that if you write down personal data about someone and it is identifiable then the person has the right to view it and be aware of it unless it is covered by the exemption. A course report, normally, wouldn't come under that.

My advice to anyone is if a course report is raised you should get a copy. If you don't want the other person to see what you write down don't write it.

If people more information on the DPA and are serving there are several well written guides - speak to your DPO normally the DLO or ALO onboard. The RN Web via the Defence Intranet at work has a full section on it. Home page - left side down the bottom on the links Information Management click and then follow the Naval DPA section.
  5. Thanks Guns I am sincere and purely looking for some advice.

WRT Breathe I have tried to PM you but it doesnt seem to have been sent I have been in the Navy for sometime and currently out of the loop at present so was purely looking for some advice nothing more or sinister about it.
  6. Up the duff by the cock of a greasy stoker I bet.
  7. well thanks for your advice and really no need to be rude.
  8. You are more than welcome.

I can't help with getting your career back on track after opening your legs that Friday night, but I can give you the dimensions of a useful hutch to keep your kid in, whilst you attempt to reintegrate in to service life.
  9. beggers belief you serve comments like that put people off from joining sites like this and jumping to conclusions like that are quite upsetting when you dont know any facts.

Oh go on then you smooth talking fucker.
  19. i dont understand why you have to be so rude about other peoples comments. there is a massive difference between old school and pink and fluffly just because someone is out of the loop or questions a situation doesnt make them a nozzer its just an ever rotating situation of the armed forces where more and more matelots are deploying on the ground or in an environment that takes them out of the all jack envornment. A bit of support would not go amiss
  20. Think it's your choice of forum dialajenny. Quaterdeck and Lil's are not good to post innocent questions - you may have been better on 'Newbies' (as a newbie to the site, not the RN).

Sorry but I'm not in a position to answer your original question so good luck with that.
