@vauxhall is the one with a definitive answer, but I'm afraid he doesn't qualify as he did less than 22 (maybe 12) years and left before 1975.

WreckerL is spot on. Before 1 April 1975 an OR needed at least 22 years Regular paid service after the age of 18 (16 years after age 21 as an Officer) in order to qualify for pension benefits.
