Pending Further Medical Review

  1. Hi all,

I was just curious to know if anyone had experience with this.

I went for a medical on the 9th October and was made TMU due to having Asthma and Eczema when I was younger. Now, I've been clean for medication for both issues for nearly 10 years and no longer have either of the issues.

I called my AFCO the other day and they advised me it's now pending a further medical review? I'm not entirely sure what this means but I would find out by the 18th January?

    Any help would be appreciated.
  2. I was made TMU for asthma and had to have a second medical but not too sure what the medical review is, might be worth just ringing them and checking. Will be quickest way for you to get an answer.
  3. Well that's what I would presume would happen. I have called and it was just the info would be given soon. I had a peak flow diary that I've completed so don't know they need that but apparently I won't have to go to the second medical if all is fine?

Just a note, the AFCO didn't mention anything about service doctor?

    Quite worrying.

  4. Maybe they are going to let you off of the second medical based on your doctors info then? I had to go back to the exact same doctor for a second medical 8 weeks later. Not sure how consistent the AFCOs are with other AFCOs
  5. I am also in the TMU club since October! But for a suspected heart murmur so my process since my first medical has been tests at the GP and another test at the hospital, as I understand from the research I've done, I'm now awaiting the NHS specialist to review my two test results together, before sending this info onto my GP, who will pass it to Capita (who administered the RN medical) who will also review it against their bars to entry, then all being good my AFCO will be informed to book me a second medical. I think the service doctor part is when the information gets back to Capita. I've still got a few months of waiting it would appear but hey just keep running!!
  6. Maybe, I just don't understand why it would need to go for a further review after the initial checks.

I feel for you mate. Like I said, I don't know what would have came up on my medical resulting in it needing to be reviewed further? :s
  7. They must be reviewing your peak flow diary - if you did that after your first medical. At least you'll find out soon though
  8. Seems strange because the doctor only glanced at my peak flow on my second medical. I think it would be much better if they kept people in the loop abit more
  9. That's the thing.. it's just sitting in my house they haven't got it because I haven't been for second medical? I get minimum 650 and max of 730 average 700?
  10. Higher than mine was mate. How tall are you?
  11. 5'' 11 weight 75 kgs. BMI just over 23.
  12. Im smaller than you so probably around he same as mine and it was fine.
  13. I guess I'll just have to wait and see! Hopefully there is nothing stopping me.
  14. Yay just had what I assume to be the 'all clear' from the hospital - the specialist has reviewed all my heart tests and they must be all good as they've written to my GP to say I don't need to be seen again best news all year!!
  15. Well done mate happy for you! Whats the next stage for yourself then?
  16. Thanks. Next stage is getting the relevant info back to capita ASAP so I can get another medical booked in. It's all out of my hands which is a bit annoying. I'd take the paperwork myself to and from and back again just to get it done quicker lol
  17. Haha maybe you should suggest you will do it. Ya never know the may allow it
  18. Well done mate.

I live no where near the Capita office which deals with my medical haha. Although it probably would still be quicker. This whole thing keeps niggling at my mind, so frustrating haha.

  19. The wait is annoying but I kept ringing up say each two weeks to find out the state of play which put my mind at rest really. Also if I hadn't had delved yesterday I would still be in the dark - turns out the hospital had written to my GP the week before Xmas and I still hadn't heard until I chased it up. I'm now booked in with the GP to find out if I have a benign murmur which should still be nothing to worry about or whether there was actually never anything wrong in the first place and I've had a 3 month delay for nothing!
  20. Can you join with a benign murmur?
