Pay whilst waiting to join-up? Erm, nope. It's a scam.

Just a heads-up from our Army cousins in recruitment:

Army Recruitment said:
Scam Warning:

An applicant has reported that he had received a letter from the Army asking for his bank details as part of a "Pay While You Wait" scheme, i.e. recruits begin to receive payment prior to loading to training. The Candidate was informed that the Army has no such scheme, the Candidate is still in the recruitment process (i.e. not been offered a place yet) and that the Candidate was informed that the Army would not ask for bank details over the phone.

It appears that the Candidate responded to the letter by contacting an 0845 number and provided their bank details.

The letter is believed to have a Royal Marines logo (which would obviously not be used by the Army) and contact details for Outreach Admin Team staff.

The bank name and account details of the Candidate on the letter are correct.

It is suspected that the Candidate's email account may have been hacked and the Candidate has been targeted by a relatively sophisticated scam. It is unknown whether other Candidates have been targeted.
So are you a Chef or a Cook?

A chef is basically in charge of a restaurant. A chef is able to create authentic dishes or signature dishes without direction or a recipe. This comes with years of experience. Most chefs do not really cook the food a patron is eating. This is charged to a sous chef...or assistant chef. Cooks then prepare these dishes according to the specs the executive chef has placed. It is the sous chefs job to make sure the dish is prepared correctly. Cooks are usually culinary students that work with other cooks on a line in many restaurants.

Scary thought.

Sounds almost like the Army have their equivalent of the Naval idiots that leave laptops with applicants personal details in service vehicles.
No no, I believe this scam originated when an MoD civil servant left a laptop on a train in an 'unprecedented blunder'.

'A senior MoD Official confirmed to the Daily Telegraph that this kind of thing hasn't happened in, uh, a week.'
As a chef my signature dish was "Shit on a Raft" still produce it at home on occasions
If the mess didn't wake me for 'shit on a raft' I gave them shit all day.... sometimes into the next day I'd be so hacked off.

Best times on the donkshop platform, Sunday forenoon watch, with chef passing out nazzers....
