The best piece of advice I was ever given about BRNC was that training there is just a game. Certainly when I went through it bore little or no resemblance to life in the Fleet (is this still the case?), but you've still got to get through it. Just throw yourself into it and don't lose your sense of humour!

It's rather surprising that the TSO hasn't given you guys/girls that have been "Put forward for selection" (formerly "passed AIB") an indication as to whether you are likely to be selected for which, if any, of the six entry dates that remain extant during the 12 months your AIB remains valid.

I would so be in there! Am I right in thinking that Warefare, Pilots and Observers have been selected for Jan intake? Anyone know if Engineering branch has been selected yet?

One week I called and was in, 2 weeks later I was out. The information fluctuated each time I called. The TSO passes on information as and when he has it/ you pester him but he usually says things like "It is looking likely but not certain, I can't be sure, you will have to wait". I don't want to shoot the messenger (this time) and am sure that me, P_O and Blimey are used to waiting blindly.

Aww well, so whilst you were beering it up, I was breaking sweat in the gym, slowly but surely improving my time! Whoo!

As we have said, I went from 90% in a month ago, to clearly not now, all we ask is that perhaps the Navy could do its applicants a favour and increase the time between last AIB for specific entrants, and perhaps they could have done me a favour, and knowing that I wouldn't be availible until the September entry, given me a more appropriate AIB date.

But hey if you can't take a joke, don't join!

Hi Guys,

got my joining letter for jan 7th yest, as observer. However I'm not medically fit, and my appointment for a night vision test is on the 25th of Feb!! so its likely i wont actually get to start on the 7th, which is very disappointing!

does anyone know the february starting date?

I was lead to believe it was a little bit before then, the 25th that is.
