  1. Guys,

I'm copying this from my other post in the matelot section so if any of you know any different can you reply. Many thanks.

can you tell me the full dit on specialist/retention pay when you put your notice in. Can it be done on a case by case basis for personnel who are still serving on operational duties? As I have heard from our oppos in light blue that they do it that way as it is "wrong" that front line loose their specialist pay when on tour/operations just because they have their notice in.
    Many thanks.

  2. As of 1st April you lose the lot. Allegedly it has retained you. I assume you can stop you're specialist role ow you're not getting paid for it. Yes it happened to me so it does piss you off. Be interesting to see the first diver hand in his log. Old thread comments I know, but still a disgrace.

If it is retention and you hand your notice in then it seems fair to me as the retention element obviously has not worked!

If it is specialist pay purely as a 'reward' for the task you are required to do then IMO it should be paid for the period that you carry out that task. But remember, specialist pay is often paid when the person in not in a role which requires that skill, so a bit of something for everyone.

  4. I can see the point of stopping retention pay as soon as you bang your notice in (it's all in the title) but it's a bit of kick in the nads if the specialist pay stops as well if your still doing the job. Can't see how the crabs get round it with JPA etc as it's all on the 'puter.

  5. Thats exactly my point they DO expect you to crack on as usual
