Officers' gold rank lace

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Is all rank lace worn by RN officers made of (2% WM) gold wire, or do they wear a synthetic lace on the rank slides for workdress?

Or does it depend on the tailor you use?
  2. Depends where you get it from.

My jackets, boards and slides are all 2% gold.
  3. Thanks for the response. I will be cautious when looking at ridiculously cheap shoulder boards/lace on eBay, then.
  4. Why are you searching ebay - Don't they do them in slops anymore :?
  5. I forgot to explain: I'm in the Canadian Navy and (in the middle of the prairies, at least) gold lace is not to be found as it is used only for mess uniforms.

Our service dress and combat lace is ugly nylon stuff.
