Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Looking at the process of going through training after the AIB. I know that I will go into BRNC Dartmouth to study and train for my warfare role... but could someone tell me what I will do while there and after passing out?
    Many thanks
  2. They spend many hours teaching you to use your initiative and the use of 'search' functions. These clever things help to provide all the information you should ever desire.

  3. edtaylor12 -Whilst at Dartmouth you will be enter the Militarisation phase which is 10 weeks which involves academic lectures, fitness, Core Maritime skills, leadership development and lots of other bits. If you pass the assessements you will go into Marinisation which is another 10 weeks focusing more on maritime operations and boat work with another leadership exercise based on the river. if you are successful with that you will go on Fleet time to a ship for about 10 weeks before coming back and hopefully passing out if you have passed your course. As a Warfare Officer you then come back to Dartmouth for further training for about 12 weeks learning more warfare orientated information and skills.
  4. Seriously, is it really that hard to use either Google or the search function?

Let me google that for you

There, I did the hard work for you.
  5. What about HM warfare officer? The fact sheet doesn't mention going back to BRNC as a HM warfare officer:

It says specialist training begins at the flag officer sea training school in Devon... or could this be after a return to BRNC? No information out there about this as its a very specialist role
  6. The fact sheet isn't there to trick you. "Your specialist training begins at the Flag Officer Sea Training HM School in Devon." You can't 'begin' your specialist training at BRNC and 'begin' at FOST HM School. If you returned to BRNC it would therefore be for non-specialist training, in which case all branches would return... which you probably know doesn't happen.
  7. hands up, was a silly question! I'm hoping someone on here is a HM officer, other than the fact sheet and a couple of forums I can't get much more information than whats on the fact sheet..... I want to know more :D even my AFCO didn't know much about the role -__-
