Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

Looking at the official number thread I see that about 3000 joined between Jan and Aug 1960, I appreciate that this is a very rough number as block allocations of numbers were made to various establishments.

One for NS and SM how does this compare with current numbers being taken on (if its not a state secret)?

  2. Are you sure it was Jan - Aug and not beginning of year (April 1) - Aug?

http://www.statistics.gov.uk/hub/re...yal+Navy+Pocket+Brief&pagetype=calendar-entry I think the numbers will be in here somewhere. I'll dig them out for you if you want, but I'll not be online until tomorrow morning.

From a quick glance it looks like from January 2009 - 1 July 2009 Intake was:
    120 RN Officers (+20 SUY)
0 RM Officers (expected, their intake is later in the year.)
    720 RN Ratings
    300 RM Ratings

There were also some (around 10-15) unaccounted for due to the Data Protection Act.

1140ish then, plus or minus 15.

    There's also:
http://www.dasa.mod.uk//applications/newWeb/www/index.php?page=30 but the "intake" feature doesn't seem to work for me in any browser. Perhaps I'm using it wrong and someone smarter than me can work it out.

  3. no-where near enough officers. Big problems through-out the chain as a result!!!
