'Not allowed' to accept a medal by FO

    Just found this on the Wail site:

    Now as I (probably simplisticly) see it, this guy did the draft and now is being awarded a gong for it, albeit a tad late. Somehow the Foreign Office have found out and told him he cannot accept said gong. Well bollox to that says I!!

    The reasons they give do not appear to be valid - it seems old French Vets can be given a retrospective gong, but not the Arctic Convoy Vets.

    Anyone know why successive Governments have such a downer on these guys?
