No more waivers for unspent convictions?

I don't get this 'national'/'nationwide' stuff.

Are you under the impression that the armed forces are run on a regional basis mikko? The Rutland Fleet? The Peak District Squadron? The Milton Keynes Regiment?

Or are you just pissed again?

Probably, but he won't reply because he knows it's bad drills to use his iphone while behind the wheel.

I was waiting for something like that lonestar. well done, your the 1st one - congrats

Yes lets all criticize the drink driver who got stopped on the way to work, instead we'll positively encourage little work shy scrotes with half a brain cell between them to sign up...

Just unsure why my afco told me the navy's policy had just changed and now wouldnt grant any waivers for any unspent convictions. Judging for your responses this appears to be a load of bull and it's just my local careers office that have decided this

I'm not looking for sympathy, but I wouldn't be so p*ssed off if they hadn't told me from day 1 that I wouldn't have any problem getting one!

Quit your crying, you decided to break the law, live with it.
As has been explained to you, the influx of Recruits, enquiries etc has mushroomed due to the latest economic downturn. This means the Navy and other employers can pick and choose who they Recruit.
Rather than in leaner Recruitment times, ie when other employment is available to sway potential recruits away from a career in the Armed Forces. This means if you have a conviction and another lad/lass with the same qualifications, abilities etc as you doesn't, then he/she will get the job.
Simples.

As NZ and others have explained, waiver of unspent convictions was a measure introduced to get bums on seats when it was difficult to recruit. It just isn't needed any more, that's how it goes sometimes.

Appreciated that you might think you have been unfairly treated, but in reality you haven't - it's just that the RN now gives less leeway.

As the saying goes - you haven't actually dipped out, you just haven't dipped in.
