Ministry of Defence said:
Mr Hague told the Commons one of the effects of increased military activity was that the number of incidents involving Afghan and international ISAF forces, particularly where shots had been fired at them, had “increased sharply”.
The Foreign Secretary also said progress in Afghanistan remains the “top foreign policy priority for the Government”.
The statement delivered by Mr Hague was the first in a series of regular updates where ministers will come to the Commons to deliver quarterly progress reports.

Monthly written statements will also be produced and Mr Hague promised a statement when the investigation into the death of British aid worker Linda Norgrove, killed during a failed US attempt to rescue her from Afghan captors, was completed.
Afghanistan is one of the key areas*covered by*the National Security Council.
