News story: Dstl presents full breadth of 2015 work to suppliers

War Hero
The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) hosted its fourth annual supplier day at the Kassam Stadium in Oxford on Tuesday 7 July 2015, attended by over 350 suppliers from industry and academia.

Both large and small suppliers from across industry and academia were represented on the day; including those whom Dstl already works in partnership with, as well as those new to working with the Ministry of Defence (MOD).

The event aimed to show which aspects of Dstl’s work for 2015/16 are planned for delivery externally and gave both existing and potential suppliers the chance to connect directly with those leading and working on Dstl’s programmes of work.

Richard Brooks, Delivery Director, Dstl said:

Dstl works with suppliers to deliver science and technology solutions to defence needs. As the defence landscape continues to change, it becomes increasingly important that existing and potential suppliers understand how they can work with Dstl and what aspects of Dstl’s programmes are planned for delivery externally. Ensuring Dstl engages with suppliers and that we have a two way dialogue is what the Supplier Day is all about.

The majority of Dstl’s programmes were displayed on the day, alongside the Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE), R-Cloud, Ploughshare Innovations, Dstl’s Commercial team and Easy Access IP.

Representatives from across Dstl were also on hand to discuss individual areas of work, capability requirements and involvement opportunities. Following the success of 2014, delegates once again had the opportunity to book 1-to-1 sessions with senior Dstl personnel.

New to 2015, were drop-in sessions designed for anyone new to defence to find out more about how to engage with Dstl, with opportunities to speak directly to Dstl’s Commercial team, CDE, Ploughshare and Easy Access IP.

Throughout the day there were a series of presentations and workshops covering individual areas of work, capability requirements and involvement opportunities.
