New zealand Navy

Ah, PWO(C)s. I hope the new Information Warfare discipline actually comes to something, but I very much doubt it. Lets not forget, specialists aren't promoted; unless you're name is Phil Jones, and then you become Fleet Commander!

I think that I'd probably transfer to the RNZN if it wasn't for personal circumstances here.

Nice - there's a little coffee shop if you go out the dockyard towards the ferry, head up hill at the ferry terminal and it's on the left. Good coffee and buns!

There's quite a few outside Philomena - cheeky little bar up there too, behind the main street by the supermarket.

Even Skoolies get to do NZ :)

Pretty sad state of affairs when decent chaps feel they have to leave and join RAN or RNZN to be valued. I wonder when we will actually get it together?

When we the RN realises that specialists with experience are as important as 'jacks of all trades' with 'broad employability'.

Won't happen in my lifetime. Noting we're following the RAF 'exec' and 'mainstream' system buy calling it 'talent management', implying some form of 'management'. LOL

Exactly ATG. We seem to embrace so called 'business processes' and 'best practice' in all of our management areas except HR (well probably not training either). Since SDSR, transformation and redundancies it all seems to have been about numbers, rather than who is required. Hence we all end up trying to do 3 people's work, which means no time for 'going the extra mile'. This may achieve the aim but it eats into job satisfaction as most of us want to do the best job possible rather than the minimum that will get the task done. Add no pay rise for 3 years ....

Plenty of decent kit on ebay at the moment, especially if anyone is in the market for a set of Gieves and Hawkes Mess Kit.

5 weeks to go!!!!
