New Armed Forces Pension Scheme - consultation

Discussion in 'Finance & Pensions' started by Forces Pension Society, Mar 31, 2012.

Welcome to the Navy Net aka Rum Ration

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial RN website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Despite how they look, these links do work. I have just tested them.

  2. Thank you for drawing attention to these. Many of us will be too busy to notice them while at work.

  3. I have read the Galaxy and all of the DINs (I go and find then as don't have much faith in them being 'cascaded'), but would say that there is more info in this consultation document - Section 5 being very useful. Just completed the questionnaire too. Time for the youngsters to wake up to financial planning I think.

I think it will be interesting to see the affect on those of us in our 40s, once the details of how much we will, or wont, accrue under the new scheme are published. At the moment I know my pension is increasing by approx £800 per year and so lump sum by £2400. In times of no pay rise, this is effectively what I am working for (apart from my love of the Royal Navy obviously). With less than 10 years to go, you have to start looking seriously at life after the RN.
